Title: Research Associate I
Duration: 06 Months
Location: South San Francisco, CA
Duties: The DMPK group is dedicated to enabling the discovery, development and commercialization of safe and effective medicines by elucidating the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of small molecule drug candidates. We accomplish this through the application of state of the art technologies and sciences of bioanalysis, drug metabolism, drug transport and pharmacokinetics. The DMPK group works in close partnership with disciplines such as medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology and regulatory to optimize leads, select clinical candidates, conduct preclinical development studies, support clinical evaluation and contribute to IND and NDA filings. The core responsibilities of a DMPK-BA Consultant are to develop and routinely employ bioanalytical assays for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of new chemical entities, drug metabolites and endogenous small molecule biomarkers in biological matrices that include but not limited to plasma, urine and a variety of tissues. The DMPK-BA Consultant actively participates in project team activities, and is responsible for reporting and interpreting bioanalytical results to support drug discovery and development.
Skills: The ideal candidate will have proven abilities to work within a team and independently in a fast-paced environment. This individual should have in-depth bioanalytical knowledge and extensive experiences with modern analytical instrument platforms, and particularly with LC-MS/MS. The candidate will work as a member of the bioanalytical group and will be responsible for sample preparation, tissue homogenization, sample extraction techniques (e.g. LLE, SPE, and PP), data acquisition on Sciex triple-quadrupole and high-resolution mass spectrometers. Previous experiences with Watson LIMS and IDBS electronic laboratory notebook are highly preferred. Additionally, the candidate is expected to have strong multi-tasking abilities to manage a number of studies and be able to assist in troubleshooting when instrument or assay problems arise.
Education: Candidates for the DMPK-BA Consultant position will typically have a BS or MS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or equivalent with a relevant industry experience of 4 years. Having computer science background and prior experience with CROs is preferred. The candidate should also possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
